I often joke that I’m a citizen of the world, that I feel like a person without borders, so much do I love traveling and sharing experiences with the diverse people of our beautiful planet. This feeling likely comes from my many family roots (Czech, Austrian, French), my Dutch husband, and the fact that our three grown children were each born in a different country!

After completing a Master’s in English and French linguistics, I moved toward translation and then teaching, where I spent about ten years. At the same time, I traveled extensively with my family and volunteered with charitable organizations in the countries where we lived as expatriates. This was a deeply enriching experience that brought me back to the essentials of life and made me even more aware of our consumer society and its often unnecessary luxuries. Upon returning to Europe, I struggled to reintegrate into our previous way of life, feeling a pressing need to reconnect with my own essentials and roots.

Growing up in the countryside, connecting with nature was natural for me, and memories came flooding back of my grandmother gathering plants for her medicinal teas or ointments. I remember accompanying her through fields and in her vast garden, watching her create her remedies. At 15 or 16, I received a gift that I cherished down to the last page—a book by France’s last certified herbalist, Mme Marie-Antoinette Mulot (Secrets of an Herbalist, Editions du Dauphin). I started following in my grandmother’s footsteps, delighting in creating my own potions and oils to address my teenage woes. Then I became passionate about aromatherapy, studying it independently for many years. Finally, in the mid-2000s, a cousin introduced me to the profession of naturopathy, and it was a revelation! But I needed time to accept such a change, one that would inevitably impact my husband and children, so I gave myself a few years to mature my project.

In 2011, at the dawn of my 40s, I finally decided to take the plunge—I left my teaching career behind and embarked on this new adventure!
