Prof. Pietro Di Summa specializes in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery. He graduated from the University of Turin in 2007 with a doctoral thesis on the microsurgical reconstruction of the head and neck, starting his career in Switzerland in 2008.

After extensive training at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), he earned his plastic surgery specialist title in 2015. He also completed a hand surgery fellowship in Italy, supported by the European Society for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH), and obtained EBOPRAS certification in the same year.


Prof. Di Summa has developed particular expertise in complex microsurgical reconstructions, including lymphatic surgery and post-oncological breast reconstruction. He also gained significant experience in the UK in cases of post-cancer and post-traumatic reconstruction. Since 2018, he has been practicing at CHUV, where he currently serves as Chief of Plastic and Hand Surgery.
