Visual screening includes an anamnesis, an eye examination, a visual field examination, an eye pressure measurement and a fundus photograph without dilation. Carried out by nursing staff, the examination is then analyzed by Archimed Nations Medical Center's referral ophthalmologist, Dr Hana Abouzeid. The doctor is not present at your appointment. In the event of an anomaly, a more comprehensive appointment will be recommended, with your treating ophthalmologist as a priority. The report of your examination is sent to de your doctor, with a copy for you if you wish.
Medical indications :
- never had an ophthalmological consultation
- no consultation for more than 2 years (patient aged over 40)
- driving license examination
- family history of glaucoma
- arterial hypertension
- type I and II diabetes (annual check-up)
- obesity and/or cardiovascular disorders
- regular steroid or cortisone use
- severe myopia or hyperopia
- child before starting school

As an experienced surgeon, Dr Hana Abouzeid is also fully committed to scientific research and teaching at the University of Geneva. This approach leads her to practice modern Evidence-Based-Medicine, based on systematic clinical studies for decision-making in the care of individual patients.
After completing her studies in Geneva and obtaining her medical degree in 2001, Dr. Hana Abouzeid trained in ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University, USA, then at the Hôpital Ophtalmique Jules Gonin in Lausanne. After obtaining her Swiss FMH and European EBO specialist qualifications in 2006, she completed her surgical training as Head of Clinic at Hôpital Jules Gonin, before returning to the USA for further training at Harvard Medical and Business School. Since 2015, she has been practicing in the Private Practice she founded, AZ Ophthalmologie, in Geneva. In 2019, she was awarded the Peter Watson Medal for the highest score in the European Board of Ophthalmology Glaucoma Subspeciality Exam.
She was Associate Physician at Geneva University Hospitals from 2020 to 2022, and was awarded the title of Privat Docent by the University of Geneva in 2024.
Dr. Hana Abouzeid is President of the Swiss Glaucoma Group, of the Groupement des Ophtalmologues Indépendants de Genève, Member of the Commission d'Examen de spécialiste FMH en Ophtalmochirurgie, and Member of the Commission de Formation Continue de la Société Suisse d'Ophtalmologie.
