Born in Zurich, Dr. Ghanem earned his medical doctorate at the University of Basel. He completed his specialist training in ophthalmology at the prestigious University Eye Clinic in Basel under Prof. Josef Flammer and at the Cantonal Hospital Aarau under Dr. Bruno Blumer. After successfully passing the FEBO exam in Paris, he obtained the FMH specialist title in ophthalmology in 2013. As a senior physician, he worked at the Pallas Clinics in the Canton of Aargau, where he led the Pallas Eye Center in Wohlen.

In 2016, Dr. Ghanem completed his training in ophthalmic surgery, earning the FMH subspecialty title. To further specialize in cataract surgery, he pursued a fellowship at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He gained additional expertise in vitreoretinal surgery as a senior physician at Klinikum Stuttgart, the largest hospital in Baden-Württemberg.

Returning to Switzerland, Dr. Ghanem co-led the practice group Augencentrum Zytglogge in Bern and served as a consultant for retinal diseases. Among his prominent surgical mentors were internationally renowned experts such as Brian Little and Martin Watson (Moorfields London), Prof. Carsten Meyer (Switzerland), and Prof. F. Gekeler and Dr. O. Alnahrawy (Stuttgart).
