PERIODONTICS

Treatments are performed by the dental practitioner. In the early stages of infection, treatment involves deep cleaning. If the infection is more advanced, the periodontist may need to lift the gum to clean the root thoroughly and sometimes remove part of the gum to facilitate daily cleaning. Periodontics is the specialty focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting the gum and adjacent bone, known as "periodontics." Periodontal diseases are often the most common cause of tooth loss in adults.

DENTAL PROSTHETICS

A dental prosthesis is a device designed to replace one or more missing teeth and their supporting tissues (bone and gum). Depending on whether it can be placed and removed by the patient, the dental prosthesis is classified as removable or fixed.

Inlays (ceramic or composite) are currently tending to replace other filling techniques.

ORAL SURGERY & IMPLANTOLOGY

Tooth extractions, from the simplest to the most complex, as well as implant placement, are common surgical procedures. Other interventions may also be necessary, such as bone grafts to increase bone volume to allow for implant placement.

A dental implant is a titanium screw placed in the bone where the missing root was located. Once the implant is fused to the bone (osseointegration), a dental crown is fixed (screwed or glued) to the head of the screw protruding from the gum.
